Presentation and organization

The Professional Union for the Protection of "Camembert de Normandie ( Syndicat Interprofessionnel de Défense du Camembert de Normandie) was founded on November 13th,1997.

It succeeded the old SVCN, founded in 1909. This Union is ruled both by the AOC milk producers and by the AOC Camembert manufacturers.

Its action is various:

- Defense of the AOC Label - Development and control of the quality of the product, - Promotion of the product.

It is composed of two important commissions:

* The Commission called "Conditions de Production" which is in charge of drawing up the specifications for the milk production and the cheese manufacturing.

* The Commission called "Agrément Produit" whose role is to control the quality and the physico-chemical composition of the cheeses.

Other commissions have also been created to promote and develop the AOC Label "Camembert de Normandie".
