The Isigny Cooperative was created in 1932 with the aim of defending the Isigny Label and the quality of its products, offering the consumer choice of speciality products, a guarantee of high quality and a high standard of service.

In 1980, the Isigny sur Mer and the Sainte-Mère Eglise Cooperatives fuse to make one company. Therefore ensuring the promotion of traditional Normandy products for years to come.

For all production, especially that of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée Normandy Camembert, Isigny Sainte-Mère aims to work only with good quality milk. To do this, the Company encourages its suppliers to follow a voluntary policy that ensures the good quality of raw materials.

This policy, in association with an exceptional traditional region and the AOC Label awarded to Isigny's creams and butters, are the key of the Company's success. Effectively, the Isigny region is privileged; its ageing marshes, flooded during the winter period, benefits from a very rich subsoil which explain the quality of collected milk.

1985 was a red-letter year in the history of the cheese industry because of an event which took place at Isigny Sainte-Mère : this was the invention and final industrial development of the first robot capable of forming Camembert cheeses automatically by the traditional method. This was designed and developed by the executive personnel of Isigny Sainte-Mère and the patents for both the robot and the special cheese moulds used are the property of Isigny Sainte-Mère.

Also the Cooperative is constantly pionneering in matter of quality assurance and in 1989 was the first agro-alimentary company to obtain the ISO 9002 certificate.

An example to demonstrate its dedication to producing quality products, the "Excellence award" was given to Isigny Sainte-Mère by the Concours Général Agricole to congratulate it on being the most awarded company in France since its creation at the beginning of the century.
